Let’s talk about Depression

I know this is going to be heavy but I just feel like talking about it as there are court cases with people or psychiatrist telling the Judge that the offender has depression at the point of time when the incident takes place.

Well, this is something that I don’t get it and something that I feels like it’s bullshit. I mean like even if you have depression, that doesn’t gives you the right to kill people and then when you go to court, you tell the Judge ‘oh, at that point of time I was having depression.’ Then get a lighter sentence. If you know you got depression, shouldn’t you get help instead of venting it on domestic helper/friend?

Another thing is that, why wasn’t the offender get caught when the incident is happening, why only get caught after that and can go to court & a lighter sentence? Yes, I know they have depression but like I said depression doesn’t gives them the right to kill people. If they get a lighter sentence, what about the family members of the deceased? What do they get in compensation? The victims are all innocent people. Offenders get to go to jail and when their jail term is up, they get to release back to the community to lead a normal life. Then what about those who got killed? Those innocent lives that was being sacrificed because the offenders were having depression?

I’m pretty sure when you have depression, you can still think, you can still decide on what you are gonna do. Harming people is not the option and going to court telling the Judge that you have depression is not the way to cure your depression. I know I’m not being nice to people who have depression but it’s the fact. If depression gives you a lighter sentence for killing people, a lot of people will use it as an excuse to get a lighter sentence when in actual fact that they don’t have depression. I know they will hire a psychiatrist and do a psychology test but people can fake it and make it looks like they really have depression you know.

I’m just saying that it’s unfair to the deceased families who will have to accept the death of their family members because of somebody who got depression and killed their family members. It isn’t right and it isn’t fair. If you got depression, you should get help instead of killing innocent lives. There are so many court cases recently and it’s all ‘DEPRESSION’ related. It turns me off and it makes me feel like people are using ‘DEPRESSION’ to sort of get away, well, of course I won’t know if they really got depression because I’m not them but I feel like there will be people who commits a crime and will use ‘DEPRESSION’ as an excuse to get away with it. ‘DEPRESSION’ gives you a light sentence that’s my impression now. You will never know if people will change for the better. You won’t know if psychotherapy actually helps or not. If people are getting better with psychotherapy & medication then it’s good. Let’s hope they don’t repeat their offence again but what are the odds.

I‘m not hating on people who have depression ... I mean after all this is just my opinion, you don’t have to agree with me ... but yeah.
