Well, it was my first time participating in the Election. It was my first time being able to vote. I would say that it was meh. I was looking forward to it but I wasn't excited about it. Because the teams that were running for my area, wasn't really what I wanted.

But 1 of the party never change. It was the same throughout the years. The changes was the Opposition team. I only did my research prior to the day of voting. I only watch the speech video of the opposition team and I feel like they are not worthy of my vote.

But to be honest, I never felt that both parties are worth my vote. My relatives wanted another opposition team rather this one. I felt they were disappointed by the choice given. So end up they voted the other team instead of the opposition because they were not given any choice.

But I was quite surprise when the results was being announced. It was really an interesting General Election this year as the results were really close. It was really a tough fight. But I was quite surprised at the actual results was being announced. Especially for my area. My friend and I thought that the opposition team running for my area won't have much votes but it turns out they have quite a number of votes. I was really surprised at it.

The reason why they have garnered quite a number of votes was because the voters feel that they don't want the other party to win. So that's why they voted the opposition team. I'm not sure if they really know the opposition team or did they watch the speech given by the opposition team but I guess this was one of the possible reasons why they voted for the opposition team. Oh but the amount of rejected votes at my area was also quite a number. It was the highest rejected votes about the other area. I wasn't expecting that high number of rejected votes at all. But I can understand why people either submitted a blank poll paper or they chopped on both parties.

If only my area's opposition team was some other team, I'm pretty sure the opposition team would have been given a chance. But I understand why it wasn't the same opposition team as 5 years ago. It wasn't easy to win over the same party that was going for my area.

I wanted to stay up all night for the full results but I couldn't stay awake for so long, so I fell asleep at probably 3+am in the morning without knowing who manages to get the Parliament seats or how it was being divided in the end. So I search it the next day, yet again, I was surprised. Sort of disappointed as well but wasn't really very disappointed.

I really hope the people's voice will be heard in Parliament. If people's voice can be heard in Parliament, this will be the start of changes. Not big changes but slowly yet surely, things will change for the better. I really hope the party that won the majority of the Parliament seats are being open-minded and will work together with the opposition team who manages to get seats in the Parliament.

After all, it's all politics. But if they can work together, that will be the best. Really the best. But I know it's not gonna happen. It probably won't happen. But who knows? I'm really curious how the next 5 years will turn out. The election that was being held 5 years ago was different from this time round. Well, because of Covid-19 that is happening this year, the polling was different. It was divided into different time slots and different section. It was definitely different from 5 years ago. I hope this won't cause any increase of Covid-19 cases as there were queues.

I heard that 5 years ago, the people were able to go at any timing they wanted. Well, that was because there wasn't any pandemic/Covid-19 going on, so they did not set any time slots for the voters. I heard it from my aunt. I wasn't able to vote 5 years ago as my birthday happens to be in the 2nd half of the year, so by the voting day, I was not of age yet to vote. So I don't know what happens to polling during that time.

But I was quite looking forward to vote this year, as it was my first time. But I saw the teams that were running for my area, I lost my excitement. I was in dilemma to vote for either parties. But well, I guess my votes don't really make a different, but it manage to pull down the other party votes. I'm really curious of what the future holds.

Let's hope for the better ^^
